Saturday's Workshops.....

Hello teapots.

Gosh, I am exhausted! There has been so much to do in preparations for Saturday. Just having a cuppa and taking the weight off.

Right, Saturday's Workshop schedule is as follows:

2pm: Spectacular Spectacles & SuperHero Shinanegans!
Davies & Daughters have been inspired by Lola (from Charlie & Lola) and invite you to decorate your own groovy spectacles! If that isn't your bag, then make a super, super-hero mask!
www.daviesanddaughters.creators.co.uk

3pm: Yes, your Majesty!
We've had so much to celebrate this year! With a nod to the royal jubilee, Miss SoS cordially invites you to express your inner prince or princess and decorate your very own crown.

4pm: The Queen having tea with a Friend
Artist Fiona Bell Currie continues our royal tribute and will take you on a journey of creating your own greeting card. This promises to be a fab workshop as Fiona lends her wonderful creative style to our workshop. www.fionabellcurrie.co.uk

Remember, workshops have limited spaces and are not suitable for children under 3 as there may be small items on the craft table. If you would like your little teapot to take part in a workshop then put their name on the board that will be available near the craft table.
The craft table will be open for self-inspired creativity in between workshops. Come and get crafty!

Welcome to our community neighbour - Crafts Bee

Hello Teapots

You may already be aware of the wonderful addition to our high street that is Crafts Bee. Situated opposite the Cinema in Beckenham, Crafts Bee offers everyone the opportunity to get creative.

The craft room is a gorgeous, bright and light workspace situated on the first floor of 247 High Street. If you have ever fancied turning your hand to skirt making or designing your own bag, now you have the opportunity to do so! Workshops are run by the day and are facilitated by experienced crafters. From learning to knit to silk painting, it's all going on at Crafts Bee.

We all have the potential to be creative! You don't have to be a skilled artist to explore your inner crafter. Check out www.craftsbee.com for more info and to book courses or call 0208 650 7099.

One week to go....

... until the Hidden Teapot's Summer Fair! Yes folks (folks?) next Saturday, August 18th, sees our Summer Fair swing into action. We shall be revisiting the venue that served us so well for the spring fling - the hall of the Methodist Church in Beckenham, entrance in Bevington Road.

The summer fair will see new and regular members showcasing their work. This will be a chance to browse and buy wonderful, handmade items not available anywhere else. There will also be cards, prints and limited edition works by local artists and print-makers.

We will be holding taster workshops for children and of course, the pop-up tea shop. Fancy a nice cuppa and a slice of cake? Visit the tea shop at the rear of the hall and sample our delicious home baked cakes. And tea always tastes better in China cups, don't you think?

Keep posted to the blog in the coming days for insights into our designer-makers and updates on workshops and other info.

Bye teapots and see you soon, Miss SoS x x

Because we're worth it!

Hello teapots

We have had so much support for our Bake-off from all over BR3! The website Beckenham Town has carried our flyer for the past few weeks (www.beckenhamtown.us) and BR3 Magazine has featured it too so a big thank you for that.

Miss SoS has been out with her shopping bag collecting prizes for our Bake-off winners. See below for a taste of what was on her list and don't forget teapots, there's just a week now to submit your application if you want to take part!

- STOP PRESS - STOP PRESS -

Hello Teapots

Due to interest from younger members of our community in the Bake-off, it has been decided that there will be a separate category for under 16's.

So if you know a budding baker, a Jamie in the making or a Lorraine in waiting, encourage them to enter our community competition. It promises to be a brilliant day! Let's get baking!

Bake-off Heating Up

Things are really heating up as the date of the Bake-off approaches. But what's it all about?

Baking has reemerged as a popular pastime for men and women of all ages. What better way to bring our community together than to hold a Bake-off. It will give us a chance to get together, swap notes, offer support, have some fun and raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

To be a part of the event, you should live or work in BR3 and be an amateur baker.

To enter you will be asked to bake a Victoria Sponge. This can be a classic version or your own take upon that. The cake will be judged by 3 independent, Beckenham-linked judges. The cake will be judged on the following criteria: Flavour, Appearance, Consistency and Presentation.

Your cake should be brought to the Hidden Teapot's Summer Fair on Saturday 18 August to the hall of the Beckenham Methodist Church - entrance in Bevington Road.

Due to popular demand, there will now be a new category of 'Under 16's'. So if you know a young baker, get them to show us what they can do.

Entries should arrive by 1pm. The competition will be judged at 4.30pm and the winner announced thereafter. The competition is free to enter but we are asking entrants to make a donation of £3. However, you should note that it is not a requirement of the competition, simply a suggestion. If you wish to make a donations it should be made on the day.

There will be an overall winner, decreed the Beckenham Baker 2012, plus a second and third prize.
Prizes will be announced here soon.

Email thehiddenteapot@gmail.com for an entry form. And get baking!
